Good day friend.

I hope you are finding small joys in this beautiful Sunday and a little room to rest.

On my walk today, as I was noticing the bright flowers, I began to notice some plants that were turning brown and dying back. Those same plants, just a few weeks ago, were vibrant green with blooms aplenty and that got me thinking about how there are seasons for growth and seasons for rest…

I often think I need to check a few things off my to-do list before resting. Or feel guilty when I do force myself to rest. I often think about the myriad of tasks I should be doing while I’m “resting” and end up just feeling stressed. Do you relate?

The more time I spend outside and observing the nature near me, I can see the small changes that lead to the rest season for many plants and animals. There is no to-do list, no guilt and certainly no forcing rest for them…and that is truly beautiful and something I will keep in mind the next time I am feeling tired.

“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own.”

– Charles Dickens

May we all give ourself the grace we need to hear our needs and give ourselves the rest we need to return to our lives with renewed strength.

Same time next week.
